The Pythagorean Theorem

The Pythagorean Theorem is a theorem attributed to Pythagoras that the square of the hypotenuse of a right triangle is equal to the sum of the squares of the other two sides.

This can be applied to a real life situation. For example, when two airplanes are flying in the air opposite each other, air traffic controllers use the Pythagorean theorem to make sure they are a safe distance apart so they don't crash.

Well, you kind of have to use the Pythagorean theorem because you can't stand on the tip of a moving airplane wing with a couple of yard sticks, can you?
